Magic Book
I was staying at a long, narrow house, temporarily with a few family members. It's not really important. My glasses had at some point been crumped and broken, and I needed new clothes. I felt like I had several chores to do, but then I became distracted by something:
Somehow, I had with me a small book from China. It was filled with blank pages, plus a few pages of instructions at the beginning.
The book was meant to be a toy. Whenever anything was written in the book, any simple prompt, some of the blank pages would magically fill up with words based on whatever you had written.
The instructions depicted pictures of cartoony looking children, stretched out in odd ways due to the style. I read the instructions. Something that stood out to me was that whenever someone wrote into the book, they must afterward read what the book had written back to you. I supposed they were just rules for some game, but the book seemed a bit sinister.
I wrote down a few words. The book didn't have much of a response. Then I took some red ink, and smeared a blotch of it into the page. Several pages were suddenly filled with strange and disturbing pictures, as well as lines of Chinese text I couldn't read.
