Flooded Basement
The basement was flooding.
Instead of a single room, the basement was a long and tall tunnel, and part of a vast underground network connecting several places. Copper pipes ran along the ceiling, as well as grating at the top. The tunnels resembled underground abandoned train tunnels, or Victorian storm drains. Wire gates sectioned off certain areas.
The water had reached halfway up the stairs, it was now essentially an underground river. Water was pouring in from a pipe that was far too deep underwater to reach now.
I turned the light switch on. I could see lights underwater, glowing through the murky green water. Suddenly afraid of causing a short, I turned them back off. I tried to take pictures in the low light. I could see the silhouettes of things swimming in the water. Octopus and cuttlefish.
